Established in 1980, the company currently occupies two thousand square meters in Central Johannesburg and has a staff compliment of 23. Local outlets include most major furniture retailers, department stores, the smaller gift and furniture outlets as well as the leading interior designers. As all their designs are conceptualized and executed in-house and they are able to manufacture to any specification, the company has been awarded several corporate contracts, including The Lost City, Sun City, The Hilton Hotel, The Michelangelo Hotel and the Hyatt Hotel. International contracts have included hotels in France, Mauritius, Zimbabwe and Botswana. A specific style is emerging in South Africa that captures the essence of Africa but goes beyond the mere ethnic look. Ceramic Designs currently markets a wide variety of products including a range which draws inspiration from both the animals of Africa and the local ethnic influences, resulting in a totally unique range of products. Currently the Director of the company is R. Groenewald, still achieving the same quality as her predecessors, supplying Massmart, JD Group, Reliant Group and Ellerines.
