HISTORY
 

Fish Fantasy World has a very interesting history, with a starting point further than 1955!!

 
   
     
As our motto indicates, Fish Fantasy World was established to make our hobby more enjoyable and affordable.

Mission statement:- To improve the quality of fish available in South Africa and teach people how to maintain an aquarium correctly.

The setup is also being designed in order that customers may see what certain species of fry look like as most hobbyists have never seen an angel or discus fry. Tanks will also be set up for the breeding of Gourami's and Siamese Fighter fish showing how the male cares for the fry - in other words, Fish Fantasy will also become a place of interest to all our new and young hobbyists'.

New competitions are being organised and talks on various subjects will be held such as - setting up your new aquarium; setting up a new marine aquarium; hatching brine shrimp and cultivating live foods, breeding Siamese Fighters and a host of other fish. Please join our forum and enter any subject that you would like us to discuss.

Unfortunately, the wholesalers still show a reluctance to sponsor any prizes for our new competitions.

Our cutting tables have now been set up and all tanks sold will be manufactured by myself. From past experience we have found that the care and expertise needed to build a better tank is only achieved when owner built and cannot be achieved by employing staff. 2008 will see an introduction of cabinets built entirely from marineplywood. Cabinets will be properly sealed so as not to allow absoprtion of moisture which causes the veneer to swell. New models will be available which will include wall units.

We will also be doing a lot of product comparisons to save you costs. So keep an eye on our product page. We will not stock or promote any equipment that we deem to be unnecessary or where the wholesalers are not able to give the standard of service that we require

Our river system tank has finally been set up. So if you are looking for something different, Fish Fantasy World is the right place to come to. Also see for our second hand equipment page. Any unwanted pet equipment can be advertised for free on our site. Any dog, bird or reptile breeders are welcomed to contact me and advertise their pets on my site for free. Also anyone looking for a specific pet can also advertise on this site.

Live foods

Microworm, daphnia and brine shrimp now available. Daphnia and brine shrimp needs to be ordered first so that it is fresh and alive when purchased

Feeding live foods is an integral part of the hobby. Learn how to cultivate your own live foods. Lecture will be given on Sunday 5th October at 2.30 pm. Booking is essential

Take advantage of our low 1960 fish prices. We are able to state unequivocally that we have the healthiest fish in town (see price list) All fish for sale have either been bred by ourselves or have been properly quarantined. There is not a shop in Gauteng that can make this claim.

Live rock is now available from R80 per kg. Come and compare our rock to what is available at other pet shops.

We now accept credit cards, but unfortunately are not able to accept bank debit cards yet. We also do not accept Nedbank credit cards.

Please note that due to time constraints, only regular customers with problems will be helped for free. People buying fish/goods from other pet shops and that have problems with their setups will be charged a R300 consultation fee. There will be no deviation from this policy. Breeding information will also only be available to members of our breeding club.

Fish bred by FFW are now available at Exotic Pets Krugersdorp (011 6607909) and Cuddles and Pets (Flea market stall in Brightwater Commons, Randburg- 0827072447)

A pair of Demasoni's, which were photographed and video'd. will be uploaded within the next few days. Our frst lot of aquarium plants have already arrived and are currently on sale.
