Welcome to Kokstad Junior School

Our Foundation Phase at Kokstad Junior School has unmatched facilities and a tremendous amount of emphasis is placed on these "little people" to face the challenge of life to come. The class sizes are realistic and each child is regarded as an individual with special needs. Our teachers, with experience and dedication, take special care with each pupil entrusted to them during these impresssionable years. We therefore belive our pupils develop into happy, confident, independent young people with a sound learning base in all areas of the curriculum.
F oundation Phase pupils participate in all Kokstad Junior School events, including sporting programmes, assemblies, drama productions and their own end day Presentation year.
Although our Foundation Phase pupils are encouraged to participate in sport, there is no pressure placed on them in this respect. Our Sports Instructor introduces each new sporting discipline during P.T. lessons and the desire to partiscipate in the afternoon team sport is awakened here. Many of our "smaller competitors " can be seen at Inter-School encounters thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Kokstad Junior School recognises that life skills such as team work, co-operation with others and the ability to strive for success agains difficulties are valuble lessons learnt from the involvement of sport. We therefore encourage participation to the best of each pupils ability, regardless to the level at which they preform.
During the senior phase, our pupils are privileged enough to encounter field trips as far as Durban in Grade 5, Cape Town in Grade 6 and Environmental Study excursions, throughout Natal in Grade 7. These trips are true highlights for our pupils at Kokstad Junior school.
Parents play a key role in the success of our school. Their involvement in the management of the school is actively aought and freely offered. Standards are constantly maintained and indeed improved, it is therefore understandable why Kokstad Junior School has such a great reputation and commands such high respect. |
